I woke up in a strange room. I don’t remember anything. It’s dark, and there’s a musky smell in the air, I’m strapped to a table or something, the metal against my bare back is cold and gives me goose bumps as I struggle to get loose, but it’s no use. I’m stuck, no way out.
The lights all of the sudden flicker on, I scan the room. Its big and empty, I seem to be on an operating table. There is mold growing on the ceiling, the smell is almost unbearable.
I see a door, a tall scrawny man walks in wearing a white lab coat, and his hair is black and greasy. He has stains all over his coat; I can’t quite make out what the stains could be. He is holding something small and metal in his hand. He closes the door behind him, locking it and walks closer.
He stands next to the table I am on, and removes the cloth covering my bare body. I now know that the small object is a scalpel. He presses it down onto my chest; I let out a scream of pain as he continues to carve words into me. I scream louder.
He stops, “Hush now, you wouldn’t want to make me mad. Now would you?”
I’m terrified, I try to be quiet. The pain is unbearable.
He is finally done. “Lets see here. Hmm, now, we wouldn’t want that to get infected, now would me?”
He pulls out a brown glass bottle. “Ah, here we go. Rubbing alcohol. This should do the trick.”
I shake my head no as tears run down my face.
“But we wouldn’t want an infection to set in honey.” He smiles at me.
As calmly as I can I say, “don’t call me that, I’m not your honey, I don’t know you.”
He slaps me across the face. “Don’t you dare disrespect me like that ever again. Do you understand me?”
I try to say yes but I can’t. He grabs my face, “I said, do you understand me?”
I say yes. The tears continue to fall. He pours the alcohol onto my newly found wounds. I bite my lip trying not to scream and upset him.
“Awe, why are you crying Sweetie? I’m not hurting you am I? I’m sorry.”
He grabs a cloth out of his pocket and wipes my face. He lays the cloth back over me and walks out of the room.
I lift my head trying to read what he carved into my body, it says “MINE”. He walks back in what seems like a few hours later. I’m not in as much pain anymore.
“All better? See, that wasn’t so bad now was it? Now, I am going to unbuckle your restraints. If you try an escape, I will shoot you. It would do you no good anyway, seeing as you don’t even know the way out.”
He undoes the one around my neck first, then my wrists, and then my feet. He helps me sit up as I rub my swollen red wrists.
“What is your name?” I ask.
Softly, he says, “My name is Adam, I’m sorry if I scared you.”
He helps me off the table; I wrap the cloth around my body as he leads me into another room. It’s clean and roomy. There’s a nice canopy bed, a closet filled with new clothes, a mirror, a bathroom, the walls are a peachy color. It’s like a dream bedroom.
“Here you are honey, a room fit for a queen. I hope you find everything you need. Please, look around, put on something nice. I will be back soon. You will be having dinner with me tonight.”
He leaves, shutting the door behind him and locking it. I walk over to the closet looking through all of the beautiful dresses that were in it. I found an amazing blue one. I laid it on the giant bed and walked into the bathroom. It was huge, the floor was marble. I took a shower and got washed up. The water ran down my wounds. I bit my lips again. I stepped out, got dried off and walked back into the bedroom to get dressed. The soft dress pressed against my wounds. It stung.
There was another door. I opened it; it was full of shoes and jewelry. I found the Perfect pair of shoes and a stunning diamond necklace, with matching earrings. I went and sat down in front of the mirror as I put my hair up. I went over to the bed and sat on the edge of it. It was very comfy. I hear someone knocking on the door.
He enters, and I stand up. He’s not wearing his other clothes anymore. He is now in a black tuxedo, and he is all cleaned up.
“You look beautiful.”
I thank him. He walks over and takes my arm, not sure what’s going on, I follow. He leads me into an amazing dining room. He sits me down and pushes the chair in for me. He then walks to the other side of the table. He pours me a glass of wine, and slices a piece of meat and places it on my plate along with some baby carrots and peas. I start to eat, something doesn’t seem right; I-I’m starting to feel tired. I-I can’t seem to hold my eyes open.
I wake up in my room. The door opens, he walks in holding the scalpel again, I start to cry and back up onto my bed.
I wake up sweating; thank God that was just a dream. My chest kind of hurts, I just brush it off. Maybe I scratched myself while I was having that horrible nightmare.
My mouth is so dry. I walk into the bathroom to get a glass of water. I get my water, I look up into the mirror, I feel like I’m about to faint. I have the word MINE carved into my chest. I start to panic. I run out of the bathroom back into my room, it’s the one from my dream. I hear the door open; my eyes are filled with tears as I fall to the floor. I don’t know what to do anymore. He comes closer,
“Is everything ok Honey?”
